Excellent palliative care requires the ability to elicit the patient's fears, wants, needs and goals in order to assist them in choosing the best interventions for their specific situation. Effective communication in the palliative care setting is the focus of this system.
In addition to understanding, connecting, and partnering with patients and families during this most vulnerable time, skills to overcome individual and system barriers are recognized and solutions to overcome these barriers are explored.
