Cultural beliefs have many dimensions, including decision-making styles, healing traditions, spirituality, expectations and assumptions about privacy/disclosure, status/hierarchy, socio-economic status and immigration status. This system is designed to help healthcare professionals learn to communicate in a manner that is respectful, compassionate, and sensitive in order to fully understand the patient’s health needs and craft an appropriate and meaningful care plan.
This interactive system goes beyond excellent core communication skills to identifying any underlying/existing personal biases and how those biases may impact interactions, the overall provider-patient relationship and, ultimately, clinical outcomes, safety, and efficiency. It features introductory materials, videos, small group activities and large group discussions.
The Communication for Cultivating an Inclusive Culture system is a four-hour session.
The session is facilitated by an IHE expert.
This system is offered to physicians, allied healthcare providers and administrative staff of all backgrounds.
Our certification encompasses Continuing Medical Education Credits (CME) in partnership with Saint Louis University School of Medicine’s Continuing Medical Education Program.
CME/CEU credits are available upon request for this system.
